Contributions to the fair are used entirely, 100%, in support of the fair activities. We have no paid staff (the organizing committee is entirely volunteer), and no fund-raising costs.
Contributions may be made to the overall operation of the fair or to special awards. The former category of expenses is quite sizable, consisting primarily of the site expenses (setup, security, and space rental) and for the ISEF affiliation fee. Therefore, when sponsors wish to support specific awards with a contribution, we ask them to add at least 20% to the direct cost of the award in support of the overall operation.
