Instructions for Symposium Presentations
This year, for the first time, we will have the facilities
to allow students to make electronic presentations. You can
use regular clear transparencies (for an overhead projector)
as in the past, or you can bring a presentation adhering to
the following guidelines.
If you wish to use the electronic facilities, please
note the following:
-
Your presentation must be prepared as a self-contained PowerPoint file.
You will not have internet access.
-
Note that PowerPoint files can be prepared on a Macintosh computer,
as well as on Windows-based systems. If you prepare on a Mac, then
you must ensure that the file you bring (below) is formatted for use with
a Windows system.
This means that both the file and the disk that you
bring must be in the proper format.
-
We will only accept PowerPoint files that have been prepared
in Windows format on a portable USB file device (sometimes called
"key-chain file systems"or "thumb drives"). The projection system will not be
equipped with a floppy disk.
As noted above, Macintosh computers usually have facilities for
producing such a file.
If you make your file on a Mac, it would be a good idea to
test it on a USB-equipped Windows machine.
- You must also bring hard-copy transparencies, just
in case a system incompatibility prevents you from using the
on-site computer and projector.
If there is any malfunction in using the computer projection system, we will
immediately ask you to switch to the overhead projector.
